2018 BC Fires: Red Cross Update

As we all watch the development of the wildfires, our thoughts and hearts are with those who have evacuated, are on standby, or who know that damage has happened in their communities.

Working with all levels of government, Canadian Red Cross volunteers are supporting with registration of evacuees at some reception centres and we have teams and supplies ready so we can quickly respond to communities’ needs.

Red Cross has also launched an appeal for financial donations to support those people impacted by the BC wildfires. We are very grateful to the Government of BC who will be matching donations from individuals in BC from August 15th to October 12th.

Red Cross will continue to work alongside provincial, local and Indigenous governments to plan how we can best support individuals, families and communities in the days and weeks ahead. This will focus on programming to provide support for re-entry and recovery.

I will continue to update you as the situation evolves.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out should you have specific needs now or any questions or concerns,
