The Corporation of the Village of Telkwa requires a highly motivated individual with strong organizational and communication skills, and experience in general office and reception/secretarial duties. You must be an independent worker with the ability to prioritize tasks and problem solve with a high level of accuracy.

The Office Assistant 1 performs a variety of administrative/clerical tasks in a busy professional environment, including: reception, responding to public enquiries, typing correspondence and reports, processing transactions involving payments of fees, maintaining records management systems, organizing meetings and travel arrangements, preparing newsletters, and coordinating public communications.

Position Summary:

Duties are predominantly front counter reception, general office, secretarial/clerical, transaction processing, and other related duties as required. Knowledge of office procedures and computer operation is essential.

Qualifications Summary:

Minimum of 1-year reception, secretarial, and/or clerical experience
Working level operation of Word, Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Publisher, and general office equipment
Experience working on MAIS would be an asset
Must be physically and mentally able to perform duties of the position
Valid Class 5 BC driver’s licence
Experience in a municipal office setting preferred

This CUPE position is Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (35 hours per week).  The wage is $18.47 hourly, plus benefits.

The Village of Telkwa is seeking a highly motivated individual with strong organizational and communication skills and experience in the operations and maintenance of a municipality to join our Public Works team. You must be an independent worker with the ability to prioritize tasks, problem solve, and provide direct supervision to crew members.

The ideal candidate will have significant supervisory experience in local government services; will demonstrate strong leadership skills; possess superior verbal and written communications skills; have experience in the development and residential building inspection process; and have the ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff, stakeholders, and members of the public. Preference will be given to candidates possessing a post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field supported by EOCP Water Distribution, Waste Water Collection and Water Treatment certificates, as well as experience in the application of Work Safe BC Health and Safety regulations. Comparable work experience and education will be considered. Candidates must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license (unrestricted) and provide a current driver abstract at the time of application.
