- Reduced BC Transit Service on December 15, 2023
Please be aware that due to an unplanned maintenance issue, Smithers & District Transit will be amending their hours on Friday, December 15 to allow the appropriate maintenance work to be completed. The following trip times will be cancelled on the above-mentioned date. A message from Mayor Dekens: "On behalf of the Village of Telkwa Council and the entire municipality, we would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Village of Telkwa Volunteer Fire Department and the Town of Smithers Fire Department for their speedy response to the house fire that occurred last night in Telkwa. The partnership of the two Departments working together for the safety and betterment of the communities is truly impressive. Once again, your hard work and dedication is admirable. - Water Disruption
Please be advised that there is a break in the watermains. Residents in Pine Street, Cottonwood Street and Coalmine Road (closest to the BBQ Grounds area) do not have water at present. This is being fixed and residents should have water by 1:00 pm today (Tuesday, July 18th). We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

The Bulkley-Nechako Joint Accessibility Advisory Committee (which includes the Village of Telkwa) is seeking volunteer members to help guide the planning efforts to make our region more accessible for everyone. - No Recycling Pick-up on July 4, 2023
Due to mechanical issues with the Village of Telkwa garbage truck, there will be no Recycling Pick-Up on Tuesday, July 4, 2023. Recycling will resume on Friday, July 7, 2023. Please note: Garbage pick-up will remain on schedule (East garbage pick-up Wednesday, West garbage pick-up Thursday).
- No BC Transit Service Canada Day
There will be no service including all routes and curb-to-curb service on Canada Day, July 1st. Regularly scheduled service will resume on Monday, July 3, 2023. Please visit bctransit.com for more information.
- 2022 Annual Report
The Village of Telkwa 2022 Annual Municipal Report is available for inspection to all interested members of the public at the Village office, pursuant to Sections 97 and 98 of the Community Charter. A digital version is linked below, and hard copies are available at the Village office during business hours (Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 12:30 pm and 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm). If you have any questions or comments on the Report, please submit them in writing to info@telkwa.ca and/or attend the Annual Meeting of Council being held on June 27, 2023 at 7:00 pm in Council Chambers at 1415 Hankin Avnue, Telkwa, BC.
- National Indigenous Day - Story Telling
Kids, you're invited! Wednesday, June 21 from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm, Telkwa Reading Centre will host a children's indigenous story telling with Nicole Rousseau, followed by some fun crafts. Additionally, Telkwa Reading Centre has a display of indigenous books available this month for everyone to read in recognition of National Indigenous Peoples Day.
