Volunteer Opportunities

The Ark is currently guided by a volunteer Board of Directors whose mission is to provide services to children and their families while building community “from the roots up”. 

Municipal government serving the Village of Telkwa. Volunteers are sometimes requested to serve on Committees and to assist with Outdoor Ice Rink Snow Clearing.

Telkwa Seniors Housing Society manages the 8-unit seniors complex, Telkwa House (B.C. Housing Program). The Society is in the process of constructing Aldermere House, a 24-unit complex to house seniors & peoples with disabilities.

The Telkwa BBQ and the Slow Pitch Tournament is the longest running consecutive event in BC. Volunteers help with the operation of the event.

We provide support to the students and teachers at the Telkwa Elementary School, with mainly funding things for the classroom, field trips, etc.

The Telkwa Museum is society owned-and-operated and is staffed almost entirely by volunteers who have a passion for history and who love the community.

Helping seniors remain independent and stay connected with their communities.

General maintenance of space (painting, laying out woodchips, building or repairing raised beds), seasonal tasks etc.

Nestled beside the spectaclar Bulkley River, the Telkwa Reading Room affords one of the most beautiful spots in B.C. to lose yourself in a good book.

Bulkley Valley Kinsmen, is a secular Canadian non-profit service organization that promotes service, fellowship, positive values, and national pride.

Emergency Support Services (ESS) is a provincial program for local authorities and Indigenous governments to deliver services to the public in an emergency. 

Telkwa Fire Rescue is a volunteer Fire Department responding to fires, medicals and motor vehicle accidents. We train weekly on Wednesdays from 7-9pm. New members welcome!
