ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Telkwa is nestled in the Bulkley Valley in the northwest central interior of BC, halfway between Prince Rupert and Prince George, 15 km southeast of Smithers, which is the main service centre of the Valley.  Telkwa is a short commute to our neighbouring communities of Smithers and Houston for additional work, retail, supplies and recreational activities.  A sophisticated transport network provides access to key markets, with Highway 16 and CN Rail passing through the Village.

Telkwa is open for business and willing to work with new businesses and investors.  The Village of Telkwa is working towards taking advantage of the opportunities around mining, green energy and tourism as a means of diversifying our economy. Telkwa has lower land costs, competitive tax rates, various business support programs, and transportation routes for new business prospects.

If you are considering starting or buying a business in Telkwa, take a look at our Telkwa Community & Investment Profile for details about the transportation network, business costs, utilities, education, health and other community information.
