Convenient Options to Pay Your Property Taxes
As we approach the tax season, it's essential to ensure that your property taxes are paid on time to avoid any late penalties. At the Village of Telkwa, we understand the importance of convenience and flexibility when it comes to managing your finances. That's why we offer multiple payment options to suit your preferences and busy schedules.
Timely Receipt of Tax Notices
Before delving into the payment methods, it's crucial to note that property tax notices are mailed out before the end of May, ensuring you have adequate time to plan your payments. However, if you haven't received your notice at least 15 days before the due date, please reach out to our Village Office for assistance in obtaining a duplicate bill.
Responsibility and Communication
All property owners share the responsibility of ensuring taxes are paid promptly. Effective communication among owners is key to coordinating payments smoothly. While each owner receives a copy of the tax notice, we recommend designating one owner to make the payment, streamlining the process and minimizing the risk of errors.
Avoiding Late Penalties
Late payment penalties can be avoided by ensuring your payment is processed smoothly. Whether you're paying directly or through a mortgage company, timely action is imperative. If you're utilizing the services of a mortgage company, don't forget to claim your Home Owner Grant online before the due date to avoid any penalty fees.
Multiple Payment Channels
To accommodate diverse preferences, we offer five convenient ways to pay your property taxes:
In-person at the Village Office: Visit us during office hours to make payments via cheque, cash, or Interac.
By mail: Ensure your cheque reaches us by the due date. Postmarks will not be considered as the date of payment.
Electronic fund transfer: Utilize property tax payment services at any financial institution.
Online banking: Make payments online, remembering to include your property tax folio number.
PaySimply: Opt for this Canadian-owned, third-party provider to make payments via credit card, Interac e-Transfer, PayPal, or in-person at Canada Post.
Convenience at Your Fingertips
We emphasize the ease of online payments to help you avoid late fees. Whether through online banking or PaySimply, these methods offer flexibility and efficiency, ensuring your payments are processed on time.
*Please note that while a convenience fee applies to PaySimply transactions, it does not benefit the Village of Telkwa. Your convenience and satisfaction remain our top priorities.
At the Village of Telkwa, we strive to make property tax payments as hassle-free as possible. Choose the payment method that suits you best and ensure your taxes are paid on time, contributing to the smooth functioning of our community.
