The Village of Telkwa is advising residents that Stage 2 Water Restrictions are now in effect until further notice. Our treated water system also supplies water for fire protection. As water demand increases during the summer months, it is important that we work together to reduce non-essential water use and help ensure a reliable water supply for our community.

The Village of Telkwa will be completing road improvements on Cottonwood Street and Dogwood Street starting August 10th. The road improvements will include seal coating, ditching, and driveway improvements to ensure proper drainage and consistency throughout the project area. The FireSmart Treatment Planning Open House will give residents an opportunity to learn about the wildfire risk reduction planning initiative in the Skillhorn and Jackpine area, ask questions about the planning process, review project information, meet project partners, and learn ways to reduce wildfire risk on their own properties. Open House will be happening at 1304 Birch Street (The Old Firehall Community Hall). June 22nd from 6:30-8:00 and June 23rd from 2:00-3:30.

Project Includes: Removal of vegetation and associated root systems along approximately 590 metres of dike. The work includes tree cutting, stump and root extraction, site cleanup, and restoration of disturbed areas as required. Monday-Friday between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM.

The Riverwalk Dyke is an important piece of community infrastructure, and we ask that everyone help protect it by leaving it as it is. Please do not: • Plant trees, shrubs, or other vegetation • Move, remove, or place large rocks • Dig into or disturb the ground surface • Make any other alterations to the dyke While these changes may be well-intentioned, they can impact the integrity and function of the dyke.
