ATV’ing

Telkwa Pass is one of the area’s must-do rides. Visitors will find themselves surrounded by majestic peaks, glittering lakes and glacier-fed waterfalls. ATVs can be rented from Harvey Mountain Adventures in neighbouring Smithers.

Bird Watching

The region around Telkwa affords great sightings of birds for the novice and experienced birder. A walk by the river will bring sightings of a variety of bird species. The viewing platform at Tyhee Lake Provincial Park provides a lookout over a marsh that harbours numerous species of birds, mammals, small reptiles and fish.

Cycling / Mountain Biking

The Telkwa area offers a diverse group of trails and forestry roads for every level of ability. The rides vary from easy, to moderate and extended day trips.
Bicycle rentals are available from McBike & Sport in our neighbouring community of Smithers.

Fishing
​
The Telkwa area provides tranquil lakes that provide magnificent opportunities to catch fish like char, kokanee, cutthroat and rainbow trout.
Test your skill against the fighting spirit of a steelhead on the Bulkley River. There are 68 major rivers that flow through this vast area, each offering its own brand of excellent fishing.

Golf
​
The Smithers Golf and Country Club, just 13 km west of Telkwa, offers an 18-hole championship course and features a driving range, full-service clubhouse and pro-shop. For more information, visit the Smithers Golf and Country Club.

Disc Golf
​
The Disc Golf course on Skillhorn Road has two course layouts, which are still in the development stage. Please contact the Bulkley Valley Disc Golf Association for more information.

Fun on the Water

Round Lake is located east of Telkwa and offers great opportunities to be out on the water.

Tyhee Lake Provincial Park has a great, kid-friendly beach and is a popular family spot, offering many outdoor activities.

The Bulkley River is popular for white water rafting, kayaking, tubing and jet boating.
