This week is #FirePreventionWeek. Telkwa Fire Rescue has launched the "You're One Smart Cookie" program to recognize children in the community who demonstrate examples of both fire and personal safety.
Children are invited to demonstrate their knowledge and show the Village office staff or Telkwa Fire Rescue how to test a smoke alarm, or show they wear a helmet when cycling, or a PFD when on the water. Free cookie vouchers available for safety smart children - while stocks last.
