National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, September 30th

Council and staff acknowledge that it is an honour to work, live, and play on the traditional territory of the Gitdumden Clan of the Wet’suwet’en people. September 30th is Canada’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. In honour of this occasion, the Village of Telkwa has been flying the 'Every Child Matters' flag in place of the 'Telkwa' flag, and an orange ribbon has been hung on Village of Telkwa vehicles. To show our support, orange t-shirts were worn by Council and staff in the office and the field. We encourage you to commemorate the history and ongoing trauma caused by residential schools and to honour those who were lost and the survivors, families, and communities who continue to grieve. September 30th is a federal statutory holiday and the Village of Telkwa office will be closed in honour and recognition.
