Notice of Upcoming Road Improvements - Cottonwood Street and Dogwood Street

The Village of Telkwa will be completing road improvements on Cottonwood Street and Dogwood Street starting August 10th. The road improvements will include seal coating, ditching, and driveway improvements to ensure proper drainage and consistency throughout the project area.

As part of these improvements, residential driveways will be constructed to the standard 6.0-metre width in accordance with the Village of Telkwa's bylaws.

The Village's Subdivision and Development Servicing Bylaw establishes the following driveway requirements:

• Minimum driveway width: 4.5 metres

• No more than 50% of any lot frontage greater than 9.0 metres will be permitted for driveway access

• Driveways must be a minimum of 3.0 metres from any street tree, streetlight, fire hydrant, utility kiosk, or any above-ground structure within the right-of-way, unless approved by the Village Engineer

• Water meters are not permitted within driveway areas

• Maximum driveway grades:

• Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional: 8%

• Multiple Residential, Single Family, and Duplex: 15%

  
  

If you would like your driveway culvert to be extended beyond the standard 6.0 metres, you may request an additional length at a cost of $360 per metre, which includes both materials and installation. Requests for extended culverts must be submitted prior to construction to ensure they can be incorporated into the project schedule.
